Our verdict

Best for: Households & small businesses. Price: ~£3–£8/mo, multi-device.

What we liked

  • One account covers all your devices
  • Huge feature set incl. NAS & server backup
  • File versioning and snapshots
  • Frequently heavily discounted year one

What to watch

  • Interface is busy — lots of options
  • Storage is capped (not unlimited)
  • Renewal price higher than year-one deal

If Backblaze is the calm minimalist, IDrive is the Swiss Army knife. One account backs up your laptop, your partner’s laptop, the phones, and — unusually at this price — a NAS or server too.

Why it wins on features

Versioning, snapshots, disk-image backup, and genuine multi-device coverage under a single storage pool. The first-year pricing is often startlingly cheap.

The catches

Storage is capped rather than unlimited, the interface throws a lot at you, and the renewal price steps up after the introductory year. Worth diarising.
